In Celebration of 'Hire a Veteran Day'!
As Wellness Wishes continues to work on programming for 2018, we couldn't be more excited about combining two of our passion projects together - Wishes on Wheels and Veterans Hiring and Assistance Program. With today being "Hire a Veteran Day", it seemed the perfect opportunity to give our supporters a sneak peek at how these two programs come together to serve our community.
Wishes on Wheels is designed to utilize rescued food in an effort to eliminate food waste in the Columbus, Ohio area while providing homemade, nutritious meals from the rescued food to those unable to shop, cook and/or afford quality, fresh food themselves. While we're looking to start this in the Columbus community, our successful implementation will serve as a template to take across the country!
How do veterans factor in? Through our future Veteran Hiring Program, we look to fill as many positions as possible with men and women who have proudly served our country.
How many jobs does Wishes on Wheels intend to create?
Three primary divisions will employ over 130 staff members scaled over the course of 18 months once the program is launched. Administration, Culinary and Field (food trucks and rescue trucks) are the three divisions requiring every position from management to culinary artists, and truck drivers and maintenance.
We at Wellness Wishes couldn't be more proud of the efforts so far to get Wishes on Wheels up and running - and we couldn't be more proud of the sacrifices and commitments our great servicemen, servicewomen and veterans make on a daily basis.
