Renewal: Wolf Energy, Spring's Awakening and the Dawn of True Healing

As the last breath of winter gives way to Imbolc’s quiet promise, Mother Earth sends her clearest sign yet: mere days after the Winter-Spring mid-point, a gray wolf (absent from Southern California for over a century) walks the hills near Lancaster. This is no random coincidence as Wellness Wishes was "born" 3000 miles away in its own Lancaster - Lancaster, Ohio. And this is no random sighting.

This is Wolf Energy rising. This is the wild current beneath the ice, the roar of rebirth, the unmistakable call of The Dagaz Project - named from the Elder Futhark rune of dawn, breakthrough, and irreversible transformation.

Wolves have always been more than predators. They are guardians of balance, teachers of loyalty, mirrors of resilience. For veterans, first responders and trauma survivors carrying invisible wounds, wolves offer something clinical rooms rarely can: unconditional presence without judgment.

In programs across the country, rescued wolves and wolfdogs are already proving what ancient wisdom always knew — that healing happens in relationship with the wild.

The Wisdom Behind the Howl

Decades of research on animal-assisted interventions (AAI) back this truth. A 2022 systematic review and meta-analysis of psychiatric assistance animals for veterans with PTSD found a large, clinically meaningful effect on symptom reduction, far beyond what many traditional therapies achieve alone. Veterans paired with trained service animals showed significant drops in PTSD Checklist scores (often 10–15+ points), lower anxiety, reduced depression, and improved social functioning.

Even broader animal-assisted therapy studies confirm what participants feel instinctively: time with animals lowers cortisol (the stress hormone), quiets hypervigilance, and rebuilds trust.

Why Dagaz Is Different

Traditional PTSD programs, although valuable, often rely on clinical settings, talk therapy, and medication. Dropout rates for veterans hover between 50–60%. Many feel pathologized rather than empowered.

The Dagaz Project walks a different path.

We are building a living sanctuary and retreat in Ohio where veterans, first responders, and trauma survivors, and their families, step into wolf energy directly. Here, healing is not “treatment.” It is rebirth:

  • Wilderness immersion and nature-based therapies that sync the nervous system to Earth’s rhythms

  • Direct engagement with wolf ambassadors in a dedicated sanctuary, teaching boundaries, pack loyalty, and fearless presence

  • Metaphysical practices rooted in the Dagaz rune itself; dawn after darkness, clarity after fog, breakthrough after battle

  • Holistic nourishment, guided journeys, and family restoration circles

This is sanctuary, not session. This is coexistence with the very creatures society once tried to erase. A mirror for those who know what it means to be both warrior and wounded.

The wolf in Los Angeles is not coincidence. It is confirmation. Spring is not just returning to the land , it is returning to the human spirit. The frozen lake is thawing. The current beneath is speaking.
